1. What makes Julius® Original drinks so tasty?
Julius Originals are blended fruit drinks that include a dairy-based flavor enhancer for a frothy, refreshing taste. Available in a variety of flavors including Orange, Strawberry, and Raspberry (available November 2005), they are a delicious alternative to carbonated beverages.
2. What's the difference between a Julius Original and a Julius Premium Fruit Smoothie?
Julius Originals are frothy and refreshing, a good choice if you’re looking to quench your thirst.
Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies are everything you’d expect from a smoothie and more! Made with real fruit, they’re real delicious and are available in a variety of flavors – from tangy to sweet.
Both are a refreshing, tasty alternative to carbonated beverages.
3. Does Orange Julius use real fruit?
Yes, and the proof is in the numbers. Approximately 750,000 pounds of strawberries and 800,000 gallons of orange juice are used each year to make Julius real-fruit Smoothies and Julius Originals!
4. How did Orange Julius get its name?
In 1926, a Californian business man named Julius Freed wanted to open an orange juice stand. He asked his friend, Bill Hamlin, to help find a suitable location. Hamlin, a real estate developer, found Julius a small store in New York on South Broadway with a pool hall downstairs, a garment factory upstairs and a theater next door.
Julius Freed had only moderate success with his new business and Hamlin suggested that Freed jazz up the drink. Hamlin had an idea how to make fresh-squeezed orange juice more exciting and consistent. A former chemistry student, Hamlin decided he would create a new formula. Freed liked the new fresh-blended drink idea and began selling it in his store. It was clearly a winner, quickly outselling orange juice. Hamlin soon jumped behind the counter to help keep up with thirsty customers shouting, "Give me an orange, Julius!" Thus, the unique Orange Julius name and product were born.
5. What are my low-fat and dairy-free beverage options?
Orange Julius has a number of low-fat Premium Fruit Smoothies. Our favorites include Strawberry Sensation (a sensational blend of strawberries, tropical fruit juice and non-fat frozen yogurt), Berry Lemon Lively (a berry delicious combination of raspberries, blackberries, lemonade and non-fat frozen yogurt), Tart ‘N’ Berry (a zingy blend of cranberries, raspberries, fresh-squeezed orange juice and orange sherbet), Strawberry Xtreme (the ultimate mix of strawberries, banana, tropical fruit juice and non-fat frozen yogurt) and Tropical Tango (orange sherbet refreshingly blended with strawberries, pineapple, banana, and tropical fruit juice).
Our delicious dairy-free Premium Fruit Smoothies are Raspberry Crush (a luscious blend of raspberries, banana and fresh-squeezed orange juice) and Blueberrathon (a blend of wild blueberries, strawberries, peaches, banana, pineapple and fresh-squeezed orange juice).
6. Do Orange Julius stores have food or snacks?
Many Orange Julius stores serve a variety of hot dogs – Relish, Southwest Chili, and Pepperoni Cheese to name a few and snack items such as pitas, pretzels and Primo Nachos. Orange Julius Grill locations even serve tasty hamburgers.
7. What’s new at Orange Julius?
Three exciting new beverages! Most recently we’ve introduced 3-Berry Blast and Blueberry Burst Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies. The new Raspberry Julius is a refreshing addition to the Julius Original flavor line-up.
8. What information do you have available regarding food allergies?
A number of Orange Julius drinks contain our Flavor Enhancer and Smoothy Booster which contain milk and egg ingredients. Although not all beverages are made with these ingredients, Orange Julius stores are very busy and cross contamination may occur.
